Abinaya + Manickam

An Indian wedding weekend spanning multiple events across Malibu and Pasadena. At the picturesque Calamigos Ranch, the Bride + Groom held their Welcome Party, Mehndi Party, Wedding Day Breakfast, Lunch, and Ceremony at the venue's Redwood Room, and their Cocktail Hour and Reception at the Pavilion. Abinaya + Manickam wanted their wedding to feel grand and vibrant enough for an Indian wedding, but to also lean into the Bride's minimalist, modern, and elegant personal aesthetic - one that veered away from anything stylistically ostentatious or stuffy. As well, we wanted the design to stay true to the venue's garden vibe. Instead of classic programs, we created custom newspapers with puzzles, trivia, and a description of the ceremony rituals for guests unfamiliar with Hindu traditions. Other personal touches throughout the weekend included custom cake pops in the shape of tennis balls and eyeballs (the Bride is an ophthalmologist, and the Groom is a tennis player); a Wimbledon-inspired signature cocktail menu; and favors, welcome bags, wedding attire, and decor sourced on a trip to India.
